Thomas Beatie: The Pregnant Man
Now some of us Lesbians say that we were born gay, while others make the choice to become gay. We choice to live our lives as lesbian and put up with all the crap that society puts out to the gay and lesbian community.
Thomas Beatie was born a female and made the decision to surgically become a man and live his life as a man. He married the love of his life, Nancy, a female. One day, Thomas decided that he wanted to get pregnant and so he did. Thomas and Nancy welcomed baby girl, Susan back in July 2008. Throughtout this process both Thomas and Nancy appeared on the Opera Show and 20/20; People magazine paid a reported $300,000.00 for photos and an interview with Thomas and his newborn.
Now the question is why did a women, who more than likely believed that she was born in the wrong body; made the decision to become a man, then turn around and got pregnant and have a baby. Well, at the end of the day, no matter how many surgeries one decides to go through to change their gender, they will phyically still be the gender they were born as in the first place.
Now I am not knocking Thomas in any way or form but I am so puzzled by his decision. Why did he decide to become a man and then turn around and do something that a woman is suppose to do, which is to carry a baby. Was making the decision to become a man a mistake he made? Is it that he wants his cake and eat it too? Meaning, look like a man on the outside, but remain female on the inside. Thomas was very brave to do what he did. I myself, is a lesbian, but in the gay and lesbian cummunity is considered a FEMME; meaning I am a woman and looks like a woman. I’ve made the decision that in my future I will carry my partners child, meaning I will take her egg(s) and put them in me to have our baby. I made this decision because I wants us both to be connected to our child in all possible way. My partner is a STUD, meaning dresses like a man but is all woman under the clothing.
So Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Beatie, I say congrats to both of you and your daughter and from what I heard, Mr. Beatie, you are expecting again.

I actually find it strange that some people are amazed by ‘a pregnant man’. He’s not a pregnant man. He’s physically a man but biologically still a woman - so it should come as no surprise that (s)he gotten pregnant. I’m just amazed that some people can’t get their head around that, almost as if they WANT there to be a pregnant man so much that they don’t see it for what it really is.
I think Thomas might have decided to have a child because he loves his partner. It’s also his body and his right.

I Think it is each individuals choice. There is nothing that stops that maternal/paternal urge in all of us. You chose that you will have your partners baby, My partner has decided to have mine and Mr Thomas decided to have his wifes baby even though he has changed to become a man.
